DRAMA CLUB

St. Thomas college has proudly produced a number of highly talented celebrities in the field of Film, professional and amateur drama. Drama club in the college has a pivotal role in finding out the inborn artistic talents among students and nurturing to its fullness. Drama club is one of the several active and vibrant clubs in the college. It consists of four faculty members and around 50 students every year. Drama club is also organising different activities and events for students and the public. The aluminis in film industry and professional drama often visit the college to interact and share their experience in professional life with the students.

  • Amateur drama

Drama club staged a Malayalam amateur drama on August 2016 titled Ottamuli from Idukk.

In 2017 drama club staged a new comedy drama titled Shashankante Parakramangal

  • Professional  drama

A permanent venue for staging professional drama in the campus was a long – cherished dream of the drama club. As part of that, Rangachethana, Thrissur, a professional drama theatre staged a drama titled Iratta Maranam, scripted by Kujunny master at Medilicott Hall, St. Thomas college, Thrissur on October 2017. The club collected 10/- as entry pass fees to meet the expense of the professional team. There was an overwhelming support from the part of the students as well as staff.

  • Drama exhibition 

As part of the centenary exhibition, drama club displayed different stalls for the public on 16, 17 and 18th August 2018. The members of the club displayed nava rasa and Ramoji model in the exhibition. The second stall was a drama costume photography for the public. Many including school and other college students made use of the opportunity to get in close with various aspects of drama tradition in Kerala and in South India.

  • Amateur drama

In November 2018 staged yet another drama titled Santhomil Oru Pralaya kalathu in the context of great flood in 2018.

  • Amateur drama

In February 2019, drama club celebrated club day staging an amateur drama titled Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla. The script, direction, acting and other technical non-technical preparations were all done by the members of the club.

In November 2019, drama club staged another drama titled Vasuvinte Vana Parvam

  • Solo drama competition 

In October 2020, Drama club conducted all kerala Solo Drama Competition. During pandemic situation, this was organized as an online competition.
