Scholarship activities in St. Thomas’ college, Thrissur

St. Thomas college scholarship wing is actively involved in students’ welfare by advising and proposing suitable scholarship for each student. Timely announcement of scholarships were informed to the students through notice board and direct request for each classes. More over the institute itself directly support very poor students. The College office has a separate section to deal with scholarships and other grants available for the SC/ST students.

SCHOLAR SUPPORT PROGRAMME 2013-14

This year onwards the Scholar Support Programme begins at St .Thomas College, Thrissur. In the first year it was started from January 2014. Dr. Anto P.V. Asst. Botany, was the co-coordinator of this programme. The amount for this support programme received at 3/2014. First time it was run by advancing the amont from manager. The classes for students extended in between 2/2014 to 4/2014. Total 50 students were selected from low scorers of first year, 6 subjects. Of the 50 students,10 students from English and 8 students each from Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology. The amount 94500/Rs for this programme were received in the month 3/2014. Each semester with 10 hour support classes were given to the each student.Every day take attendance and record in the corresponding attendance book. The amount given different expenditure heads were audited by chartered account and send receipt and payment account to the authorities of SSP in due time. SCHOLAR SUPPORT PROGRAMME 2014-15

St. Thomas College successfully completed scholar Support Programme for the year 2014-2015. The amount 117500/Rs for this programme was received in the month December 2014. Fifty students , the low scorers of the year 2014-2015 admission were selected for SSP and the another 50 students of 2013-2014 admission were also participated in the programme. Five subjects of first year students are Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, zoology and English. The teacher engaged for second year and first year subject were given below.

The SSP programme is continuing in the year 2015-16 in all the semesters. An amount of Rs. 1,86,500/- has received in December 2015. Dr. Thomas M T, Asst. Prof. Botany take the charge of Co-coordinator in this year onwards.

First Year (2015-16 batch)

For first year, a total of 16 sessions of one-hour duration is to be conducted for first and second semester together. Of this, 8 sessions was set apart for Semester I and 8 sessions to be for Semester II. 51 students are selected for the programme.

Second Year (2014-15 batch)

For second year, the 5 subjects and the students who are identified in 2014-15, is continue for second year. A total of 16 sessions of one-hour duration has to be conducted for third and fourth semester together. Of this, 8 sessions was set apart for Semester III and 8 sessions is to be for Semester IV. 45 students are selected for the classes.

Third Year (2013-14 batch)

For third year 5 core papers are identified. The core subjects already in the scheme and the students who are identified in the previous year is continuing. A total of 20 sessions of one-hour duration has to be conducted for fifth and sixth semester together. Of this, 10 sessions was set apart for Semester V and 10 sessions is to be for Semester VI. 51 students are selected.
