NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
The National Service Scheme unit of this College was started in 1969 and functions under the Human Resource Deveopment Ministry of India. The objective of NSS is to create social awareness among the students and the all round development of their personality. The N.S.S. Unit of this College conducts regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, personality development programmes etc. for the volunteers. Blood donation to the needy and required patients is a laudable activity of the N.S.S. There are two NSS units in this College ( Unit 42 and 144). The volunteer strength of each unit is 100. The St. Thomas’ NSS Unit has been twice acclaimed as the best N.S.S. Unit of the University of Calicut in 1989 – 1990 and 1990 – 1991. The benefits for the same as per the University rules regarding NSS volunteers will be given only to such students.
