A one day workshop on Arduino based application development was held at Dept. of Electronics, ST. Thomas’ College,Thrissur on Monday 19th November 2018. The workshop was a specialization course in Arduino programming and interfacing, which enabled the participants to apply concepts learned in the classrooms in new and interesting ways to create simple yet seemingly complex embedded applications. By the end of the day students were capable of shaping a prototype of their own.
The concepts covered in the workshop were:
- Introduction to ArduinoUno board, Arduino IDE, writing and reading high and low values to the I/O pins, LCD interfacing, ADC interfacing etc in the morning section.
- Interfacing various sensors like temperature sensor, LDR, ultrasonic sensor and dc/stepper Motor in the evening section..
The session started at 10.00amwith the inauguration by Executive Manager, Rev. Fr. Varghese Kuthur with Presidential address by the Principal Dr. Ignatius Antony.
The first session of the workshop was started at 10.30 am up to 12.30pm and followed by lunch break from 12.30pm to 1.30 pm. The second session started from 1.30pm to 3.30 pm followed by valedictory function by Vice-principal Rev. Dr. Martin Kolambrath and the certificates for all participants were distributed in the function. The resource persons from Bitsforge embedded systems taken classes and provide technical support for the workshop. A Total of 54 students from 5 colleges and a teacher participated in the workshop.
