The Energy & Environment club ,St.Thomas College ,Thrissur ,Dept  of physics , st.thomas college ( Autonomous) ,Thrissur, Kerala  in association with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT ) Mumbai and Energy Management Centre ( EMC) Govt of Kerala  have   organized a one day  seminar on Renewable Energy for Sustainable Future .  Prof. Chetan S. Solanki from Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay  has  visited the institution as part of his Gandhi Global Solar Yathra ( GGSY) .  The Gandhi Global Solar Yatra (GGSY) is planned to promote self-sufficiency in energy for sustainability, mainly for those who lack access, as it is possible today to provide complete, cost-effective, reliable and sustainable .solar energy access while protecting the environment, creating livelihood and empowering

locals. As a culmination of this yatra, a Students Solar Ambassador Workshop is organized wherein more than 1 Million Students will be given hands-on training in solar lamp assembly on 2nd October 2019. The teachers and students from various schools in thrissur district participated in  the  one day  seminar   on  6 th August  2019 at Menachery Hall ,St.Thomas College ,Thrissur  . The program was Inaugurated by Rev.Fr.Varghese Kuthur , Executive Manager , St.Thomas College ( Autonomous ) Thrissur .  Dr.K.L. Joy  Principal of St.Thomas College presided the function ,   Dr. Anto Johny  T  faculty from the Physics  give warm welcome to the delegates and the chief guest . Dr. Chetan  S Solanki, Chief guest of the program   pointed about Students Solar Ambassador  workshop SSA2019 and the  importance of Energy Swaraj  in the 150  birth day of Mahathma Gandhi  . Mr. K.G .jayarajan  district coordinator of EMC  has felicitated  the function  and the  Dr.Vimalkumar T V  Coordinator of the Renewable Energy for sustainable future  express the gratitude  to the Chief  guest and other respected resource persons and the participants
