One day National seminar on Design concepts in electronic hardware and electric drivers was held at Menachery hall by Dept. of Electronics, St. Thomas’ College, Thrissur on Friday, 31 January 2020. The seminar was a practical approach in electronic hardware design & electric and hybrid vehicle drives, which enabled the participants to apply concepts learned in the classrooms in new and interesting ways to create simple yet seemingly complex electronic applications. By the end of the day students were capable of getting the ideas based on electronic hardwares and Hybrid vehicles.

The concepts covered in the seminar were:

  • Block level systems, concept of pre-amplifier, filter, PGA, ADC, Microcontroller based product design with the help of case study.
  • Discuss various electric vehicle topologies available in the market and provides information on electric drive components and it’s functioning

                The session started at 9.45amwith the inauguration by Executive Manager, Rev. Fr. Varghese Kuthur with Presidential address by the Principal Dr. Joy K L.

The first session of the seminar was started at 10.15 am titled “A practical approach in Electronic hardware design” by Mr. Manoj G, Scientist, DRDO up to 11.30 am. The second session started from 11.45 am titled “Electric and hybrid vehicle drives” by Dr. Soby T Varghese, Asst. Professor, IHRD college, chelakkara up to 1.00 pm and followed by lunch break from 1.00pmto 2.00 pm. Paper presentation and Valedictory session was followed after lunch break. The valedictory function done by principal  Dr. Joy K L and the certificates for all participants were distributed in the function. A Total of 18 students from other colleges and 120 students from our college participated in the seminar.
