The ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ is a United Nations International Day against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. It is observed annually on 26 June, since 1988. The aims is to increase support for prevention of drug use that is based on science and is thus an effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and their communities. The theme for 2017 is: “Listen First – Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe”. Department of Social work observed “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” from 26th June to 29th June 2017. Department of Social work organized various awareness programmes such as; Exhibition, Leaf-let distribution, Street play, Theme dance and Mono act in collaboration with Mental Health Centre, Thrissur and Central Prison Viyyur, Thrissur.
