The National Voters’ Day (NVD) is celebrated all over the country on January 25 every year since 2011 to mark the Foundation Day of Election Commission of India, which was established on this day in the year 1950. The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to reassure, enable and maximize the enrollment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the Day is utilized to spread consciousness among voters for promoting informed participation in the electoral process. National Youth Day is celebrated on January 12, every year in India to honor the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest leaders and believers of youth power. Hence the Department decide to observe these two days together for spreading awareness about the need for voting and participation of youth in politics on 14th January 2019. Dr. Ignatious Antony, Principal, St Thomas College, Thrissur presided over the function. Ms J Anuja , HOD, Department of Political Science, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur was the key note speaker. Blessy Paul C, HOD, Department of Political Science welcomes the gathering.
