The Research and Postgraduate Department of Botany has great pleasure to Invite you to join the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of research centre and participate in the National seminar on Emerging trends in Herbal Technology to be held at St. Thomas’ College Thrirrur, Kerala from 7 to 9 October 2015.
St Thomas College has played an inevitable role and made great contributions to make Thrissur the Cultural and Educational Capital of Kerala. The College is affiliated to the University Calicut and Nationally Accredited with A grade and achieved Autonomous status last year.
The Department of Botany was started in 1958 with three years B Sc Botany Course. In 1968, M Sc Botany was started with specialisation in plant physiology. The department is upgraded to a research centre of Botany under the University of Calicut. In connection with the inauguration of the Research Centre, the Department is organising a National seminar on Emerging Trends in Herbal Technology. The seminar is intended to make a platform for scientists, researchers, and students to share their research woks on various herbal technologies for sustainable development. The thematic areas include medicinal plants, wild/underutilized plants, natural dyes, biopesticides, biofertilizers, phytoremediation, phytochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, and herbal taxonomy.
