ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION AND INDEXING FOR RANKING

  • Those candidates who are “Eligible for Higher Studies” as per the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or a pass in the equivalent examinations is the minimum criteria for admission to degree courses, unless otherwise specified. (U.O.No 2393/2015/Admn Dated:10.03.2015).
  • The candidates who have qualified the HSE and VHSE of the Government of Kerala under ‘SAY’ scheme and Compartmental Examination of CBSE are also eligible for admission to first year degree courses in the same academic year. (U.O. No. GA I /A2/ 5753/2000 dated 14.05.2004 ).
  • The candidates posessing certificate with “Eligible for Higher Studies”issued by the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority are also eligible for Humanities and Commerce programmes. (U.O No. 408/2019/Admn Dated: 11.01.2019).
  • Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu (Private study) shall not be admitted to any course under this University. (U.O.No.GAI/A1/5062/2002 dated 07.07.2005).
  • The physically and visually challenged candidates are not eligible for admission to Geology course. The visually challenged candidates are not eligible for admission to Science subjects (involving practical) except BCA, BSc IT and BSc Computer Science.
  • All candidates qualified the Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent examinations held up to and including the annual examinations of the proceeding academic years are eligible for admission.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  • The admission of the students who obtained the same index marks shall be decided first on the basis of age and then by name in alphabetical order unless otherwise specified. (U.O. No. GA1/A2/7226/2000 dated : 04-05-2001).
  • In the case of VHSE candidates for admissions to BCom/BBA/BTHM programmes and all other programmes that come under Commerce and Management faculty, the index marks shall be arrived at by taking the marks of all the subjects except that of the marks of Vocational practicals and Internship Evaluation. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • In the case of VHSE candidates for admissions to BA programmes, index marks shall be arrived at by taking the marks of all the papers except that of Vocational practicals and Internship Evaluation/Skill Evaluation Module. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • In the case of courses equivalent to Plus two of Kerala HSE and have maximum marks or grades not in line with that of Plus two of Kerala HSE, the same will be normalized to the maximum marks of Plus two of Kerala HSE and the rank list will be prepared accordingly. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015).
  • For admissions to BA programmes, the existing weightage of 25 marks shall be increased to 50, for those who have studied the subject concerned (mentioned in the present admission rule) in HSE or equivalent. (U.O. No. 2422/2015 dated : 11.03.2015)
  • A concession of 5% will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass.
Programme Eligibility Index Mark Tie Break
B Sc Mathematics Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Mathematics group only are eligible for admission to Bsc Mathematics Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for the Mathematics for BSc Mathematics If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secured more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied.
B Sc Statistics Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Mathematics group or candidates who have studied Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Application etc with other combination at HSE level are also eligible for admission to Bsc Statistics. (U.O. No.GA I/JI/4756/1999 dated 11.01.2002) Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for the Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Application If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secured more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied.
B Sc Computer Science Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Mathematics/ Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics are eligible for admission. (U.O.No.GAI/JI/4756/1999 dated 11.01.2002) Total Part III + marks secured for Mathematics in the case of Science group with Mathematics as one of the subject AND Total Part III + marks secured for Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics in the case of other combinations without Mathematics as one of the subject. If the Candidates has studied both Mathematics and any one of the following subjects Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics then the marks secured for Mathematics or Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics which ever is higher will added If there is a tie in the index marks priority must be given to Mathematics/Computer Science as the case may be. If there is a tie again the marks of the second subsidiary subject marks of English and then the marks for second language will be considered before going to general conditions
Bachelor of Computer Application Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Mathematics/ Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics as one of the subjects are eligible for admissions (U.O. No.GAI/J1/2453/1997 dated 06.10.2000 and GA I/J1/1597/2005 dated 11.07.2005) Total Part III + marks secured for Mathematics in the case of Science group with Mathematics as one of the subject AND Total Part III + marks secured for Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics in the case of other combinations without Mathematics as one of the subject. If the Candidates has studied both Mathematics and any one of the following subjects Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics then the marks secured for Mathematics or Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology which ever is higher will added If there is a tie in the index marks priority must be given to Mathematics/Computer Science as the case may be. If there is a tie again, the marks of the second subsidiary and marks of English and then the marks for additional language/second language after general conditions
B Sc Physics Candidates who have passed (eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with science subjects are eligible for admission Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for the optional subject concerned If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied
B Sc Chemistry Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with science subjects are eligible for admission Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for Chemistry If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied
B Sc Botany Candidates who have passed (Eligible for higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Biology as a compulsory paper are eligible for admission Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for Biology or Botany If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied
B Sc Zoology Candidates who have passed (Eligible for higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Biology as a compulsory paper are eligible for admission Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for Biology, or Zoology If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied
B Sc Electronics Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Electronics/Physics/Mathematics as one of the optional subjects are eligible for admission. (U.O. No.GA I/J1/2924/2005(2) dated 28.07.2005) Total marks obtained for Part III + marks of Electronics/Physics/Mathematics as the case may be. If than one of the subjects had been offered at the +2 level, the subject with the highest marks will be added. An additional weightage of 25 marks will be added for those who have studied Electronics. An additional weightage of 10 marks for candidates passed VHSE with papers like Electronic Service Technology,Maintenance Operation of Bio Medical equipments, Maintenance and Repairs of Domestic Appliances and Maintenance and Repairs of Television If there is tie in the index marks, the priority must be given marks of Physics, then the to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie the priority must be given to the marks of Physics then the marks of Mathematics will be considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied.
B Com/BBA Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least one commerce subject are eligible for admissions to the B.Com degree course. Candidates who have not studied commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination not less than 45% marks are also eligible. A concession of 5% will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass. (U.O. No.GAI/A2/1658/2007 dated 28.02.2008) Total marks + 25 marks for each commerce papers subject to maximum of 50 marks. COMMERCE PAPERS Accountancy/ Accountancy and Auditing/ Accountancy with AFS/ Accountancy with Computer Accounting/ Accountancy (Analysis of Financial Statements)/ Accountancy (computerized accounting)/ Accounts/ Banking Assistance/ Banking with Secretarial Practice/ Book Keeping and Accountancy/ Book-Keeping & Basic Mathematics/ Book-Kpng & Accountancy/ Business Studies/ Business Studies with Functional Management/ Business Mathematics/ Catering and Restaurant Management/ Commerce/ Commercial Correspondence and Commercial Geography/ Commercial Geography & Commercial Correspondence/ General insurance/ Management/ Marketing/ Marketing and Salesmanship/ Office Secretaryship/ Reception,Book Keeping and Communication If there is a tie in the index marks, those who studied commerce in the Plus Two or equivalent get preference. If there is tie the marks in the commerce subjects will be considered first, then the marks of English and then the marks of Additional language/second language will be considered. Finally general conditions are applicable
B A English and History (Double Main) Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission Total Plus Two marks + twice the marks secured Part I English (i.e. Additional second languages) + 50 marks for History/Islamic Jurisprudence (Faqh and Aquaid)/Islamic History/History of Islam and history Arabic Literature + 20 marks for Part III Optional English Literature/Communicative English in HSE or equivalent If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the Additional Second Language concerned . Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable
B A Economics Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission Total Plus Two marks + a weightage of 50 marks for those who have studied Economics as optional subjects in HSE or equivalent If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in Additional/Second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable
B A Visual Communication/B A Multimedia Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks in aggregate shall be eligible for admission.A concession of (5%) will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only a pass (Eligible for Higher Studies) Total Plus Two marks + 50 marks for the papers Multimedia/ Multimedia and Web Technology concerned optional only. An additional 50 marks will be awarded for VHS passout students if they have studied the Vocational course – Graphic Design and Printing Technology If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in additional second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable
B A Criminology and Police Science Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies)the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission Total Plus Two marks + a weightage of 50 marks for those who have studied Psychology as option subjects in HSE or equivalent If there is a tie, the priority must be given to those candidates who score more marks in the optional subjects concerned. Again if there is a tie, then the total marks in English, then the total marks in additional/Second language are considered. After that the general conditions are applicable
B Voc Data Science Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Mathematics/ Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics are eligible for admission Total Part III + marks secured for Mathematics in the case of Science group with Mathematics as one of the subject AND Total Part III + marks secured for Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics in the case of other combinations without Mathematics as one of the subject. If the Candidates has studied both Mathematics and any one of the following subjects Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics then the marks secured for Mathematics or Computer Science/Computer Application/ Information Technology/Informatics Practice/Informatics/ Additional Mathematics which ever is higher will added If there is a tie in the index marks priority must be given to Mathematics/Computer Science as the case may be. If there is a tie again the marks of the second subsidiary subject marks of English and then the marks for second language will be considered before going to general conditions
B Voc Forensic Science Candidates who have passed (Eligible for higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent there to with Biology  and  chemistry as a compulsory paper are eligible for admission Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for Biology, or Zoology If there is tie priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to considered. Even after there is tie the marks obtained in English, the second language are considered and at last general conditions are applied
