The Department of Computer Science came to existence in the year 2001 as an unaided self  financing department with the objective of imparting quality education and accelerating nation’s economic growth by developing innovative ideas and translating them into commercial products that benefit society. The department has always produced quality professionals, holding important positions in Information Technology industry in India and abroad. Over a decade, it has transformed itself into an aided department that creates an innovative academic environment, with distinctive emphasis on the overall development of students. Besides academic courses and soft skills training, research and innovations are given due importance. The placement record of over 45% to its out going students is an example of what the department is capable of and recruiters of the likes of Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro Technologies, UST Global, Syntel Inc., Eureka Forbes and IBPS offered jobs to its students in the past. Another important initiative, the department has started in the recent past, is the UGC NET coaching targeting students on and off the campus. The department was instrumental in the development of S-Tracker, a software for the easy management of semestrization. The annual techno-cultural festival of the department was celebrated since its inception and in the year 2011, it was rechristened as ‘Srishti’ with the caption, ‘Capture the Future’. A national Seminar entitled, ‘Research Trends in computer science’, was also organized annually and was aimed to introduced the emerging areas to prospective researchers.
